Pretty chryselephantine sculpture representing a musette player in a graceful attitude leaning on a tree trunk in a joyful attitude, a basket filled with fruit at her feet. The sculpture rests on a sea green marble plinth.
Théophile François Somme was born on September 7, 1871 in Nancy and died in 1952. Sculptors of stauettes, he exhibited in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member from 1899. In 1902, he received an honorable mention . In 1924, his work was honored with a silver medal; in 1925, with a gold medal and in 1937, he received another gold medal at the International Exhibition.
